Miller Homes - SuDS Balancing Pond
- East Midlands
- Completed October 2025
The Challenge
Miller Homes required specialist vegetation establishment across their SuDS balancing pond and surrounding wetland areas at Meadowbrook Chase. The 13,550m² site presented unique challenges with seasonally wet soils requiring flood-tolerant species that could withstand winter inundation while establishing successfully during drier periods. The development needed an ecologically appropriate solution that would provide immediate erosion control, meet environmental planning conditions, and create a sustainable habitat feature for the new community.
Our Solution
As Profile Products Certified specialists, we deployed targeted hydroseeding solutions across two distinct zones. We applied 5,640m² of EM8 wetland seed mix at 50g/m² to seasonally wet areas, using species suited to traditional floodplain meadows. For the 7,910m² balancing pond area, we applied N8 native wetland mix at 5g/m², containing 24 wildflower species and 9 grass species specifically selected for flood tolerance. Our hydraulic mulch seeding process ensured optimal establishment before seasonal flooding commenced.
